SPOILER ALERT: I highly recommend viewing this match in its entirety before reading this post.
The Backstory
Superhero and gay wrestling share a kinship in their themes. There's a hero, there's peril, and always a punishing heel, I mean villain. Heroes are always a beautiful Adonis and villains are rotten cheats, but above all their defining feature is that they are utterly consumed with jealousy for said hero. Kid of Steel v Muscleboy follows the superhero/gay wrestling script to a T as we begin with our fighters testing each other...
The Action
Now 'Action' should really be in quotes on this one as it's really just Kid Steel shoving his opponent around the ring. Does this distract from the action, maybe? But let's be real, we're not here for a Cameron Matthews style ring match - we are here to revel in the glory of watching Kid Steel fail spectacularly.
The Moment
Of course today's moment is the fail, when our hero's own body betrays him and our villain begins his domination. You see our hero more than outclasses and outmatches his opponent on every level but still he fails. All those superpowers, all those hours in the gym are nothing against the jealousy that boils deep within our villain.
Kid: *Groan* You can't beat me like a real man?
This moment is brought to you by the magic brought together when two men clash in gay wrestling. This blog is about why I like the things I like after all and I can say with confidence that seeing Kid Steel fail redeems the fight.
You see, deep down wrestlers are all superheroes ready to be exploited by some villain and a vulnerable, exploited wrestler/jobber/hero is exactly why I love gay wrestling (superheroes).
